MY African wildlife GALLERIES - IN PROGRESS

This is a large gallery of some of my best African Wildlife shots - taken in Kenya, Tanzania, Botswana, Namibia and South Africa

Leopards are one of my favourite animals to take photos of. With great guides I have been luck to document a whole bunch of them. 

The King of Beasts in Africa -- from very large herds in Amboseli (Kenya), covered in white mud to solitary large males in musk and baby elephants each one seems to have its own personality. 

Let me introduce you to SCARFACE. One of the Buccaneers (4 brothers who are sons of Notch of the Marsh Pride in the Masai Mara. Come look at the rest of the family and some of their cousins.  

Her is Amani, sister to Malika. Doing what cheetahs do best -- chasing after antelope (in this case a tomi).  

From iconic shots of Rhinos backdropped by a single acacia tree to Marshall the 12 year old male black rhino with a congenital defect in his eyes which made him blind (rescued by David Sheldrake) 

By far the majority of hippos in the field were shot in Kenya and The Chobe River.  Starting at a Hippo pool on the Talek river and then, on land and to other pools. 

Kenya is home to 3 types of Giraffe - Reticulated, Rothschild and Masai. A range of other types were seen in Etosha and South Africa.

Three types of zebra are found here: Plains; Grant's (the smallest) and Grévy's (the largest) Plains travel as part of the great migration.

Dysney did not favours to Spotter Hyena - pups are relatively attractive and very inquisitive. Adults are relentless hunter -- running down their prey until the prey collapses. 

African Wild hunting Dogs (Painted Dogs) are rare to see. 3 types jackal - side-striped, black-backed and golden. And Bat-Eared Foxes.

This selection includes the largest -- Cape Buffalo, Kudo, and Eland to a wide range of other antelopes of all sizes

The Great Migration is the largest animal migration in the world. Every year, more than 2 million animals (wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle) migrate in a clockwise direction across the ecosystems of the Serengeti (Tanzania - feb) and the Masai Mara (Kenya - aug).

From Baboons to Vervet Monkeys

Wort Hogs are the snacks the lions love the best. They are very quick and easily spooked.

The Nile Crocs found in the Masai Mara can be the size of small buses - the feed well during the migration. So do other species of crocs across Africa.

There are a wide range of other reptiles - lizards and snakes.

Some folk just come to Africa for the birds -- some of the largest birds of prey

The largest Owls in the world are to be found in Africa, and also some of the smallest.

It is the vultures that africa is also famous for. Very odd like the white head shown above, to many other types.

Flamingos, Pelicans, Storks, Cranes, Waders and many more.

Ostrich, Cori Busted, Secretariat Bird & other large birds

Bee Eaters, Rollers and a host of other brightly coloured and camouflaged

David Sheldrick's Wildlife Trust in Nairobi is a wonderful place -- the rescue orphaned elephants and some other species.

While we stalk animals to shoot, the backdrop is extraordinary.
